Tips & TricksGet rid of AR immaterial balances |
You can create an Accounts Receivable Write-Off Batch to automatically adjust the pennies outstanding on your AR Trial Balance.We all have those few customers on our Accounts Receivable Aged Trial Balance with a couple of dollars owing or maybe a few cents we owe them. In the Accounts Receivable module, there is a function that will assist in clearing these items, simply by choosing to "write-off" using a dollar value range. For example : any customer with a single transaction outstanding between $-5.00 and $+5.00 for more than 180 days can be adjusted automatically. Found in the AR Periodic Processing section, this form:
Use the Adjustment Entry Form to make any changes you need to the transactions created by the Create Write-Off Batch form before you post. You can also enter adjustments to write off all or a portion of the outstanding balances on individual documents in the Adjustment Entry form, or enter adjustments to write off amounts from individual documents in Receipt Entry (if you use the Allow Adjustments In Receipt Batches option). In multicurrency ledgers, write-off transactions are created in the customer's currency, using the exchange rate in effect for each currency at the time the batch is created. Realized exchange gains or losses result if you write off transactions at different exchange rates from the rates at which the transactions were entered. To use the Create Write-Off Batch form:

Reversing a Posted Transaction VS Automatic ReversalIn ACCPAC Advantage Series you may reverse a General Ledger entry you have previously posted. To reverse a posted GL transaction.
On the other hand, General Ledger's Auto Reverse option lets you post a transaction and reverse it at the same time. It also lets you choose the year and period to which to post the reversal. This differs from the above reversing process because you are choosing to create a reversing entry at the same time you create the initial entry. This is useful for year-end accruals and other entries. To use the option, check Auto Reverse on the Journal Entry form. Then, select Next Period or Specific Period from the adjacent field. If you select Specific Period, General Ledger lets you select the specific year and period from the Year/Period field. Select the year and period for the reversal. Then, enter the transaction. During posting, the original transaction is posted to the specified fiscal period, then the system calculates the reversing entry and posts it to the reversing period you selected. |
